In the complex and volatile international situation, what is the performance of Ningbo's foreign trade? Yesterday, Ningbo Customs announced the Ningbo foreign trade report for January-May 2019. According to Ningbo Customs statistics, the total import and export volume of Ningbo from January to May reached 362.12 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%; of which, imports were 131.8 billion yuan. , An increase of 8.5%, exports of 230.32 billion yuan, an increase of 10.5%, and a cumulative trade surplus of 98.52 billion yuan.


Private enterprises are still the main force in Ningbo's foreign trade, accounting for 66% of Ningbo's total imports and exports during the same period. Private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises, as the main import and export forces of the city, imported 238.98 billion yuan and 92.83 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 11.8% and 5% respectively, and the two together accounted for 91.6% of the city's total imports and exports during the same period.


It is worth mentioning that, with the exception of the United States, Ningbo's top ten trading partners have maintained growth in imports and exports. The top three trading partners are still the European Union, the United States and ASEAN, with imports and exports of 73.98 billion yuan, 53.4 billion yuan and 38.13 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 7.4%, a decrease of 8.6% and an increase of 22.8% respectively. The three together accounted for the city’s total imports and exports during the same period. Of 45.7%. It is worth noting that since the beginning of this year, foreign trade with East Asian countries has outperformed Europe and the United States. Not only has imports and exports to ASEAN increased rapidly, but it has also maintained steady growth with traditional Asian trading partners such as Japan and South Korea. In addition, thanks to the increase in imports of bulk resource commodities such as refined oil and iron ore, the growth momentum of Russia and Brazil is eye-catching, increasing by 44.1% and 47.6% respectively.


Taking advantage of the east wind of the China-CEEC Expo, Ningbo's imports and exports to the CEECs have also risen. From January to May, the import and export volume between Ningbo and the 17 countries in Central and Eastern Europe reached 11.07 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7%; among them, exports were 9.8 billion yuan, an increase of 13%, and imports were 1.27 billion yuan, a decrease of 15.8%. The top three trading partners are Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia, with imports and exports of 4.15 billion yuan, 1.01 billion yuan and 970 million yuan respectively. Greece, which just became a full member of the "China-CEEC Cooperation" in April this year, had a total import and export volume of 920 million yuan with Ningbo from January to May, an increase of 26.7%.


The export of mechanical and electrical products increased slightly, with exports of 128.7 billion yuan, an increase of 10.6%, accounting for 55.9% of the city’s total exports during the same period. Imports of some bulk commodities increased significantly. Among them, imported iron ore was 13.989 million tons, an increase of 6.1%; imported plastics in primary shapes were 2.449 million tons, an increase of 43.1%; and imported refined oil products were 1.458 million tons, an increase of 1.9 times.
